Bahrain turns
into a military barracks as the regime gives its troops free reign to
exercise the most heinous violations against citizens
Regime forces
used extreme brutality in dealing with citizens in more than 50 areas
around Bahrain on the third anniversary of the start of the February 14
uprising. Troops were spread out in huge numbers, most of them
mercenaries who have been brought in by the regime to suppress
demonstrations and confiscate people’s rights and freedoms in expressing
their opinions and demanding democratic transition in Bahrain.
The people
continue to persist exercising their right of expression, and they are
faced by forces with brutal repression and use of weapons, including
internationally banned weapons such as firearms (shotgun – fissile
bullets ). They also face collective punishment and deliberately
throwing large quantities of toxic and suffocating gases that have led
to the suffocation and death of dozens of citizens previously.
Police forces
have flooded residential areas with toxic gasses and pursued citizens
with their vehicles deliberately, opening fire on them to prevent them
from protesting.
Dozens of
citizens were injured; some of them suffered serious injuries, with the
forces directing their weapons at the citizens at close range in a clear
and deliberate way of targeting their lives. This behaviour reflects
the continuous disregard of citizens’ lives by the regime and its forces
Bahrain has
turned into a military barracks where troops have spread widely in all
areas attacking mosques in both Duraz and Aali. Police forces directed
their weapons at houses deliberately causing suffocation to the elderly
and children inside houses.
These
protests come within the continuing movement demanding democracy until
they reach a modern democratic state in which the people are the source
of all powers.
On the anniversary of the uprising: The people of Bahrain insist on their right to demonstrate to demand democratic transition
