TPP Fast-Track: “Enabling Act” for 21st Century Fascist Investor-State
When the nobility presented the Magna Carta to the King at Runnymede, they didn’t ask for his input. They wrote it and demanded he sign it. It was the formalization of power that had already passed from the King to the oligarchy. We can look at the imminent signing of the fast-track “trade agreement” as a similar formalization of power that has passed from sovereign governments to a handful of multi-national corporations. A modern analogy would be the German Reichstag surrendering its legislative powers to Adolf Hitler via the “Enabling Act” for “4 years”. In the same way, Congress is surrendering its legislative power to the fascist investor state.
