Architect Eyal Weizman writes "Israel’s system of control, which evolved
in fits and starts throughout the occupation’s first four decades, has,
during its fifth decade, hardened into
an exceptionally efficient and brutal form of territorial apartheid, in
which verticality is the operative principle."

L’art d’interviewer Adolf Hitler, par Dominique Pinsolle (Le Monde diplomatique, août 2017)

President Trump does not care that the United Nations continues to
certify that Iran is abiding by the 2015 nuclear agreement. He wants the
US to unilaterally refuse to agree to
the UN conclusion and to impose even more sanctions. What will our
allies do, as they are already trading with Iran in a large scale? Today
Iran's president warned that more US sanctions might lead Iran to pull
out of the deal. Then what? More US brinkmanship is the topic of today's

China-India Conflict Is Far More Dangerous Than US-North Korea One | OrientalReview.org

While the international media remains concerned to the point of being
fixated on the US-DPRK (North Korea) stand-off, in terms of sheer
firepower, the much more pressing
stand-off between China and India holds the potential to be far more
destructive. Indian Nuclear Weapons While the best intelligence about
North Korea’s weapons delivery capabilities indicates that North Korea
is in possession of intermediate range ballistic missile systems which
are incapable of hitting the US mainland, India’s intermediate range
systems are not only more advanced but due to India’s proximity with
China, these missiles could easily strike targets within China. [ 1,003

Ukrainian

spite of the fact that their actions included overthrowing a legitimate

Nations and the installation of a fascist regime which continues to wage
a war of aggression on the peoples of Donbass. This war has included

US Sanctions Symptomatic of a Failing Empire | New Eastern Outlook

US Sanctions Symptomatic of a Failing Empire | New Eastern Outlook

On 26 July 2017 the US Congress overwhelmingly approved a Bill providing
for fresh sanctions against North Korea, Russia and Iran. The passage
of this Bill , and its level of support
in the US Congress, is instructive on a number of levels. The first
point is that the US, or more accurately factions within the US
establishment, are prepared to pursue policies irrespective of the lack
of an evidential foundation; run counter to the interests of its
supposed friends and allies, and completely lacks any knowledge of or
reference to historical realities. The net result of the latest
sanctions is to create a singularly dangerous situation that could very
easily lead to a nuclear war. Contrary to the bizarre beliefs of some US
policy makers, there would be no winners in such an outcome.

Top 5 Ways White Terrorism means never having to Say you're Sorry

Top 5 Ways White Terrorism means never having to Say you're Sorry

By Juan Cole |

I’ve argued for some time that US media treats white terrorists differently than others. And, I noted recently that the US press seems to have been astonished when the governor of Minnesota branded the bombing of a mosque “terrorism.” We have more evidence today to make my point.

Donald Trump under fire after failing to denounce Virginia white supremacists | US news | The Guardian

Donald Trump under fire after failing to denounce Virginia white supremacists | US news | The Guardian

 TomDispatch

Just
imagine for 30 seconds what would have happened if an Islamic extremist
had driven a car into a crowd of alt-right demonstrators and you'll
know just how pathetic was Donald
Trump's response to what actually happened in Charlottesville yesterday,
where one counter-protester died and many were injured in just such an
incident. The Guardian on the president's response etc., below and then
passages from Juan Cole's latest on the subject. Tom

"Donald Trump has faced bipartisan criticism after failing to
explicitly condemn the role of white supremacists in clashes with
counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, that culminated in a
car running into a crowd, killing at least one person.

"The
president said he condemned “hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides”
on Saturday. He then repeated the phrase “on many sides” for emphasis. A
White House spokesperson later amplified the president’s remarks,
telling the Guardian: “The president was condemning hatred, bigotry and
violence from all sources and all sides. There was violence between
protesters and counter-protesters today.”

"But there was strong
reaction to Trump’s refusal to denounce far-right extremists who had
marched through the streets carrying flaming torches, screaming racial
epithets and setting upon their opponents.

"The clashes started
after white nationalists planned a rally around a statue of the
Confederate general Robert E Lee that is slated to be removed, and
culminated in a car being deliberately driven into a group of people
peacefully protesting the far right rally, killing one person and
injuring at least 19. Senator Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon,
described the car ramming as an act of “domestic terrorism”.

"Speaking at a previously scheduled event in Bedminster, New Jersey, to
discuss healthcare for veterans, Trump said: “I should put out a comment
as to what’s going on in Charlottesville.”

"After stopping to
shake the hands of the assembled veterans, the president said: “We’re
closely following the terrible events unfolding in Charlottesville,
Virginia. We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious
display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides.”
Trump added that this had been “going on for a long time in our country.
Not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. A long, long time.” Trump added:
“What is vital now is a swift restoration of law and order.”

"Trump urged Americans to “love each other, respect each other and
cherish our history and our future together. So important. We have to
respect each other. Ideally, we have to love each other.”

"However, Trump’s remarks met condemnation for being inadequate – not
just from Democrats but many members of his own party as well.

"The Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio was among those calling for a straightforward condemnation..."

HERE'S JUAN COLE:

"....When Muslim terrorists commit vehicular homicide in order to
terrorize people, as on the London Bridge last spring, that is called
terrorism, or sometimes “loan wolf” terrorism.

"But when a far
right extremist white guy commits vehicular homicide in Charlottesville
against normal people protesting Nazism and the Confederate legacy of
slavery, I swear to God, CBS/AP called it “Driver in fatal
Charlottesville wreck”

"The article notes that not only did that
hateful person allegedly kill a woman crossing the street, he badly
injured a whole gaggle of people who are not being mentioned in the
news:

“Five of the injured were listed in critical condition
Saturday night. Four thers were in serious condition, sixwere in fair
condition, and four others were in good condition, authorities said
Saturday.”

"I don’t know, I guess those ISIL guys from Libya in
London could have been characterized as “Drivers in fatal London Bridge
wreck.” I mean, it is not incorrect or anything. It is just effing
pusillanimous.

4.

"The US government has a whole program
for “combating violent extremism.” It initially worked against both
Muslim and white supremacist extremism.

"Trump last winter
ordered that the program stop combating white supremacist extremism and
focus only on Muslims. This despite the fact that you’re many times more
likely to be harmed by a white supremacist than by a Muslim in the US.

5.

"Muslim extremists are often depicted as people who cannot adapt to the modern world and are stuck in the eighth century.

"White extremists, despite their bizarre attachment to plantation
slavery and National Socialist memorabilia from the 1930s, are not
similarly branded as stuck in the past. In fact, what with their Alt
media like the far, far, far, far Right Breitbart (Volkische Beobachter
in the original German), they are often seen as cutting edge
modernists."

A Presidency Built on Racial Divisions | By Peniel Joseph | Common Dreams

"As the first modern president to consider racial segregationists a part
of his base, Trump remains reluctant to forcefully speak out against
racial hatred, thereby sending another signal that ensures that this
latest explosion of racial violence will get much worse, before it gets
better."

The car that allegedly plowed through a crowd of protestors marching
through a downtown shopping district is seen after the vehicle was
stopped by police several blocks away August 12, 2017 in
Charlottesville, Virginia. The car allegedly plowed through a crowd, and
at least one person has died from the incident, following the shutdown
of the 'Unite the Right' rally by police after white nationalists and
neo-Nazis and counter-protesters clashed near Lee Park, where a statue

Latest Venezuelan Opposition Coup Attempt Against Maduro Linked to DEA, CIA

Latest Venezuelan Opposition Coup Attempt Against Maduro Linked to DEA, CIA

The
U.S. has long sought to oust the left-wing, democratically elected
government that was brought to power in Venezuela by Hugo Chávez in the
late 1990s. Since Chávez’s election, the
U.S. is believed to have spent between $50 to $60 million to strengthen
the country’s right-wing opposition in the hope that they would win
elections. Former U.S. President Barack Obama alone dedicated $5 million
to “support political competition-building efforts” in Venezuela.

More recently, the U.S. Senate has been mulling over new legislation
that would provide an additional $20 million for “democracy promotion”
efforts in Venezuela. However, some of these efforts in the past have
led to right-wing politicians and their affiliates paying protesters in
cash to violently escalate opposition rallies.

Journalists have
also been targeted, with some being directly shot at and others
threatened with being lynched or set aflame. Despite the violence, the
Venezuelan opposition is likely to continue receiving funding from the
U.S., which is eager to gain control of Venezuela’s oil reserves – the
largest in the world – no matter the human cost.

Sana’a International Airport in Yemen. This salvo came as part of a
broad assault on Yemen’s capital,
Sana’a, which the Saudis have been bombing since 2015. The Ansarullah
movement, the umbrella group that is dominated by the Houthis, holds
Sana’a. The day after the bombings, Saleh al-Samad, who heads the
Political Council of the Ansarullah movement, said that the Saudi
strikes would create a catastrophe. Sana’a International Airport
provided an essential lifeline for the civilian population of northern
Yemen. Food and medical supplies came through the airport. These would
now be halted as a result of the strikes.
