Young, Scared, Alone and in Court | American Civil Liberties Union:

Young, Scared, Alone and in Court

Each year our government initiates immigration proceedings against thousands of the most vulnerable of our society, including children as young as 5 or 6 years old. The majority of these children have no attorney, making it impossible for them to obtain a fair deportation hearing.

No child should face an immigration judge alone. No one should have to give up their safe refuge just because they can’t afford an attorney.

Together, we can create a more just system for these kids. President Obama has the power to require legal counsel for all children in deportation hearings. We’re asking our Deporter-in-Chief to stand up for justice and become a Reformer-in-Chief.

Call on President Obama to provide legal representation to all children facing deportation.
