Again, its not about preventing the possibility of investigation. This
investigation has nothing to do with the systemic policy nor the
accountability of policy and decision-makers that led to the massive
loss of life and destruction caused by Operation Protective Edge. This
is rather an investigation into alleged low grade offences of low
ranking soldiers who for the most part followed the orders of their
superiors.
For this reason we continue to call for the
establishment of an independent commission of inquiry vested with the
authority to investigate a variety of more substantive aspects regarding
the open-fire policy employed by the military during Operation
Protective Edge.
