It only took 17 years and 16 commanders, but the new US commander of the
war on Afghanistan has finally admitted that the US cannot win the
Afghan war militarily. Trillions spent,
thousands killed, and the best the US can hope for is some kind of
graceful exit. Meanwhile the Taliban control more territory than at any
time since the US invasion in 2001. Interventionism loses every time.
