Question -. What are the near and far targets for AIT?
Response -. The International Workers Association (IWA) is a unique international organization. The AIT is managed by the workers themselves through their sections. From the 24th IWA Congress held in Porto Alegre in December 2009, the AIT has organized and coordinated countless solidarity actions urgent international action. The AIT and sections of websites, facebook pages, newspapers, magazines and newsletters external show this.
These actions of "everyday" are linked to long-term goals for our way of functioning: the sections of the AIT is democratically run from bottom to top in line with our federalist principles and democratic structures. No part of the AIT works or receives subsidies from the State and / or capitalists.
Thus, there is consistency between short-and long-term direct and solidarity actions must win "daily issues" for workers / unemployed and confront capitalism and establish the free federation of free associations of workers, libertarian communism.
Q. - What are the prospects of the 25th Congress?
R. - As seen in the previous answer are good prospects for the next Congress of the IWA. Since the last Congress in Porto Alegre, coordination within the AIT has steadily improved. Our ability to organize actions and urgent international action to support workers in struggle, etc.., It is essential for us as an organization.
The AIT is a democratic organization and as such is natural to have disagreements in Congress. So the real test of whether a Congress becomes successful is to see what happens next: decisions made in Congress will help increase the capacity of the AIT and internationally organized for short or long term goals?
Q. - Where is the importance of AIT?
R. - In the labor movement there are different views of what the word "force" means, but other unions seek to obtain loads using legal frameworks subsidies and class collaborationist structures. The justifications are different, but mostly they say that if they did not and would not have a real strength as a union. They work well in fact saying that they could not be handled without dependents, for example, in union elections to works councils, grants etc.
The importance of the IWA lies in the fact that the direct action, propaganda and solidarity of the AIT are based on our own strength, not class collaboration, such as union elections to councils. Economic independence is ensured by the fees of members, not by state subsidies. Federalism means that we do not build centralist structures and managed by professional payroll, etc. funds.
The path of AIT is constantly relate the immediate struggle and our long-term goal of defeating capitalism and establish libertarian communism. We believe that a strong movement of independent workers is the only way to ensure that "the emancipation of the working class can only be carried out by the workers themselves."
We are also worldwide. This is a great advantage not only in the conflicts of the workers, but also as a means to exchange information about evolution. Some countries are copying systems in other countries, for example with respect to trading systems and systems to undermine and / or crush the unions, and we have the ability to exchange and share experiences in order to act against them.
So with reference to the first question and answer: AIT is a unique international organization that is run by the workers themselves through their sections. Neither AIT or sections are integrated into the capitalist system, organized and coordinated international action urgent countless solidarity actions, there is great consistency between short-and long-term.
Q. - How international communications be improved?
R. - As I said, the AIT has improved since the Congress of Porto Alegre coordination as a means of action and exchange of ideas. We also got new contacts and have a working group of candidates to develop and maintain contacts with organizations that are showing interest in being affiliated to the IWA and international working group that is open to all sections in order to exchange information on contacts external.
For us fighting organization internationally is a form of communication. When workers around the world take action to support others in struggle, is communicating a feeling of solidity that can only strengthen and deepen our movement and strengthen our struggle.
Q. - Should AIT more involved in social conflicts, not only in labor disputes?
R. - Many sections of the AIT involved in different types of social conflicts, especially if they advance the class struggle. We can see sections of the AIT involved in areas such as neighborhood organizations, organizing free transportation, immigrant rights, etc.. There is a long tradition of working in social conflicts in the AIT.
Militarism and economic crisis go hand in hand, and as such, AIT is against all capitalist wars and militarism. In recent years we have seen wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the wars in Libya and Ivory Coast. Currently holds an extremely bloody civil war in Syria, succeed continuous and bloody conflicts in many African states do not even get a mention in most of the capitalist media.
Q. - How should the AIT react to the recent rise of fascism?
R. - The idea that we must confront fascism and always try to beat is central to anarcho-syndicalism. Our sections perform different types of actions: education against fascism, protests, organizing for self defense, creating alternatives among the working class. We recognize that, especially during periods of economic crisis, the capitalist ruling elite uses fascism as a means to divide workers and crush the rights of workers and organizations. The AIT is therefore strongly committed to continue our long tradition of struggle against fascism.
