SOT, Liz Castro, pro-independence activist (in English): "The Scottish people wanted to be able to decide their own future and they were fortunate enough to be part of a country that recognized their right to talk about their own future and the President, the Prime Minister of the UK David Cameron said 'I could have blocked that vote but I didn't because I'm a democrat.' I would like to see Mr Rajoy come to the same conclusion"

Pro-independence activists placed a ballot box in a cage in front of la Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona, Thursday to raise awareness about what they consider a denial of their right to vote over Catalan independence. Protesters shared out papers to locals and foreigners to explain their campaign, that the participant Liz Castro defines as a "poetic protest" to express that their "votes are in prison" and that they "are not allowed to express them". Castro also pointed out that she "would like to see Rajoy" emulating British PM David Cameron in his agreeing to hold a vote over Scottish independence.

The performance is part of the campaign "Muts i a la gabia" (Mute and caged), which has taken place all over Catalonia since Monday evening. The Spanish Constitutional Court suspended the consultation over Catalan independence Monday, due to take place November 9, after accepting an appeal presented by the Spanish government to block it.
