Erdogan Tells Feminist Summit That Women Aren't Equal to Men

Erdogan Tells Feminist Summit That Women Aren't Equal to Men

Turkey

A bombshell with his verbal statements? This doesn't come as a
surprise. That men and women differ in a biological aspects is not
shocking and are well-known facts even to the women who consider this
kind of 'news' as a distortion of the truth (whatever that 'truth' may
be). But the fact that many women can agree to the fact that they hardly
can make their own choices, that motherhood is somekind of obligatory
event in a woman's life you don't have to think about and that women do
not understand their 'role' within society, well...what's to say?
Plenty. But they have to find out for themselves what it is to be
considered as beings with hardly any choices and being considered as
beings who can't think and feel for themselves. Another example of how
women are considered within this society.

Yet, we can and may
not consider the Western ideas of feminism as some kind of blue print to
be laid down in any given society on earth.

The majority voted
for this kind of leadership. So, what does this tell? Hooray for
democracy, although -fortunately- there are also women who see the
downside of this kind of leadership and question where it concerns 'the
role of women within society'; a woman has to 'fit' into a model men and
religion has designed for them?

But let's face it: where does
it leave the women (and men) who think differently, think and feel for
themselves and do not require 'advice' on how to run their lives and
want to have choices in their ways of life as a human being, regardless
of being a man or woman?
