Establishment Wins Again as DNC Rules Committee Rejects Proposal to Abolish Superdelegates | Common Dreams | Breaking News & Views for the Progressive Community
This is unacceptable. The existence of superdelegates is a blatant
violation of a one person, one vote democracy. They fundamentally
undermine the rule of the people and make political parties unaccountable to voters.
The DNC rules committee had an opportunity to abolish superdelegates
today — to demonstrate their commitment to democracy — and instead, they
chose to maintain the corrupt status quo.
Enough. Democratic
Party leadership needs to publicly commit to pass fundamental democracy
reforms and abolish superdelegates NOW or else face mass civil
disobedience throughout the convention. It's time for a #DemocracySpring.
