A
45-min Al-Jazeera documentary that neatly recounts how the war
criminals under George Bush planned from the first moments of 9/11 to
use the attacks on the Twin Towers as a pretext to destroy Iraq. As a
result, they laid waste to a large area of the Middle East, spawned ISIS
as an unintended consequence, nearly bankrupted the US economy, and
paved the way to a Trump White House.
Two of the programme's
conclusions echo those of my book Israel and the Clash of Civilisations:
that the neocons intended to Balkanise Iraq, not bring it democracy;
and that their motive was in large part a desire to neutralise Iraq,
followed by other states like Iran, to aid Israel's dominance of the
region.
