The first victim of post- 9/11 hate crimes was a 49 year old Sikh man–
shot to death outside of his gas station. In 2012 six Sikhs were
murdered in cold blood in what was the
deadliest attack at a place of worship since the Jim Crow era, when a
man opened fire in their gurdwara. Recently a Sikh man was shot in his
own driveway. As incidences of bigoted hate crimes and discrimination
continue to rise since Trump’s entrance into the political spotlight, it
is important that we understand the history, culture, and current
