« CIA is supposed to have spied partner agencies with snooping software

The CIA apparently also spied partners like the FBI and the NSA and
secretly read out biometric data. This is from secret documents
published by WikiLeaks.

According to information from WikiLeaks , the US intelligence agency CIA
apparently spied his own partners with a trick. According to the secret
documents published on the Julian Assange's unveiling platform on
Thursday, the CIA has secretly read out biometric data from the systems
of authorities such as the FBI , the NSA and the Ministry of Homeland
Security. To this end, the CIA has used a snooping software called
ExpressLane, is asserted in the documents dated to the year 2009.

This espionage tool, CIA agents according to WikiLeaks underscored an
own biometrics software docked. This was also provided to other
services, in return, the authorities provided certain biometric data to
the CIA. According to WikiLeaks, CIA employees have consciously tapped
the software, in order to be able to read data records independently of
the agreed cooperation. Biometric features that might be of interest to
authorities are, for example, the fingerprint of a human being or his
face, captured by biometric passport photos.

The spy attacks of
the CIA were camouflaged as a software update. Employees of the Office
of Technical Services (OTS), a sub-department of the CIA, were traveling
to the bases of the partners on the pretext of updating the program. On
this occasion the CIA agents secretly launched the ExpressLane snooping
program, according to WikiLeaks.

Hidden behind an installation window

Biometric data records had been read out without the partner
authorities having noticed anything of this. This has remained unnoticed
because an installation window for updating the biometrics software has
covered the events in the background.

In the event that a
partner refused the update, there was obviously an emergency solution:
With a hidden command, the software could be completely immobilized
after a certain period of time. Then biometrics software could only be
started when a CIA employee was called in.

With the secret
documents WikiLeaks expands the collection of the "Vault 7" releases ,
which have appeared since the beginning of the year again and again in
the net. The documents are mainly concerned with suspected espionage
practices of the CIA. In March, nearly 9,000 documents had already been
published , providing an overview of the cyber-weapons of the
intelligence service. »
