How ISIS Got Weapons From the U.S. and Used Them to Take Iraq and Syria

 

 

Did you know that most of ISIS's weapon may come from the US?

About 90 percent of ISIS's arms and ammunition originated in Russia,
China, and Eastern European countries. But, as Newsweek reports, ISIS
obtained a lot of these weapons as a result of former President Obama's
support for Syrian rebels. "By purchasing 'large numbers' of European
arms and ammunition and then diverting them to nonstate actors in Syria
without notifying the sellers, the U.S. reportedly 'violated the terms
of sale and export agreed between weapon exporters...and recipients.'"
In doing this, the US may have violated international agreements and
inadvertently helped armed ISIS.

November 5. While the vast majority of ISIS’s arsenal originated in
Russia, China and Eastern Europe, much of it was initially procured by
the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, which transferred it to Syrian rebel forces
later defeated or absorbed by ISIS.
