Chaos And Propaganda: Washington’s “Reality-Based Order” | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization

Chaos And Propaganda: Washington’s “Reality-Based Order” | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization

In 2011, Hilary Clinton announced the US was at war. She wasn’t
referring to the US’s ongoing invasions, wars and occupations but an
ideological war for hearts and minds. Clinton lamented the fact that,
since the end of the cold war, US global ideological influence had
weakened, especially with the advent of the Internet and TV channels
like RT.

Of course, Hollywood still manages to propagate the
‘great American myth’ globally every day: the US as the beacon of
freedom, as the flagship of democratic
ideals, based on the great ‘American Lie’ of the great ‘American Dream’
whereby the individual can somehow miraculously overcome adversity and
make it in life, just as long as s/he keeps his or her nose to the
grind. US mass culture exported across the globe. The ‘anyone can make
it’ syndrome sugar coated with a sprinkling of ‘freedom and democracy’
then rammed down the collective throat by Hollywood, which magics away
into thin air the reality of capitalism and its deeply embedded
structural power relations. As the commentator and comedian George
Carlin once stated: “The American Dream, you have to be asleep to
believe it.”

The Covert Origins of ISIS [UPDATED 2.11.14] | SCG News

Evidence exposing who put ISIS in power, and how it was done.

The Islamic militant group ISIS, formerly known as Al-Qaeda
in Iraq, and recently rebranded as the so called Islamic State, is the
stuff of nightmares. They are ruthless, fanatical, killers, on a
mission, and that mission is to wipe out anyone and everyone, from any
religion or belief system and to impose Shari'ah law. The mass
executions, beheadings and even crucifixions that they are committing as
they work towards this goal are flaunted like badges of pride, video
taped and uploaded for the whole world to see. This is the new face of
evil.

Would it interest you to know who helped these
psychopaths rise to power? Would it interest you to know who armed them,
funded them and trained them? Would it interest you to know why?

Saudi Blood Money for Bloodletting in Yemen | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization

UN officials appealed for an immediate $274 million in desperately needed emergency humanitarian aid for Yemenis.

Saudi mass murderer/King Salman offered to contribute the entire amount
– while he continues daily terror-bombing, targeting civilians and
exacerbating a horrific humanitarian crisis.

Billions of dollars in aid are needed to address it. A small fraction of it barely scratches the surface.

Saudi oil wealth won’t restore lost lives. It won’t replace lost limbs. It won’t soothe traumatized children.

Yemen is being raped in plain sight. It’s being systematically ravaged and destroyed.

Perhaps 3,000 or more died so far in 25 days of fighting – over 85 alone in the past 24 hours in one Yemeni province alone.

10 Female Revolutionaries That You Probably Didn't Learn About In History class

By

Kathleen Harris

We
all know male revolutionaries like Che Guevara, but history often tends
to gloss over the contributions of female revolutionaries that have
sacrificed their time, efforts, and lives to work towards burgeoning
systems and ideologies. Despite misconceptions, there are tons of women
that have participated in revolutions throughout history, with many of
them playing crucial roles. They may come from different points on the
political spectrum, with some armed with weapons and some armed with
nothing but a pen, but all fought hard for something that they believed
in.

Let’s
take a look at 10 of these female revolutionaries from all over the
world that you probably won’t ever see plastered across a college
student’s T-shirt.

Ravensbrück concentration camp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ravensbrück concentration camp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ravensbrück (pronounced [ʁaːvənsˈbʁʏk]) was a women's concentration camp during World War II, located in northern Germany, 90 km (56 mi) north of Berlin at a site near the village of Ravensbrück (part of Fürstenberg/Havel).

Construction of the camp began in November 1938 by the order of the SS leader Heinrich Himmler
and was unusual in that the camp was intended to hold exclusively
female inmates. The facility opened in May 1939 and underwent major
expansion following the invasion of Poland. Between 1939 and 1945, some 130,000[3] to 132,000[1] female prisoners passed through the Ravensbrück camp system;

The New Thought Police | The Nation:

This essay is adapted from a talk delivered in March at the American Association of University Professors’ centennial conference, held at California State University, East Bay.

In August 2014, Steven Salaita was scheduled to take up a position as a tenured associate professor in the American Indian and Indigenous Studies program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Salaita had resigned his job at Virginia Tech, where he had tenure, and ordered books and submitted syllabuses for his new courses at UIUC. He had every reason to believe his future was secure. Although his appointment was contingent on a final approval by the board of trustees, which would meet two weeks after the school year began, Salaita had been assured that this was merely a formality. It wasn’t: The board refused to ratify his appointment.

MONSANTO KNEW OF GLYPHOSATE

MONSANTO KNEW OF GLYPHOSATE

According to evidence unearthed from the archives of the EPA
(Environmental Protection Agency) in the United States, it has been
established that Monsanto was fully aware of the potential of glyphosate
to cause cancer in mammals as long ago as 1981.

Recently the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer
(IARC) issued a statement in which glyphosate (the main component of
Roundup herbicide) was classified as "probably carcinogenic" to humans
and as "sufficiently demonstrated" for genotoxicity in animals (1).
This announcement of a change to toxicity class 2A was given vast
coverage in the global media, causing Monsanto to move immediately into
damage limitation mode. The corporation demanded the retraction of the
report, although it has not yet been published! Predictably, there was
more fury from the industry-led Glyphosate Task Force (2). This Task
Force also sponsored a "rebuttal" review article (3) from a team of
writers with strong links with the biotechnology industry; but because
of the clear bias demonstrated in this paper (which suggests that
glyphosate has no carcinogenic potential in humans) it is best ignored
until it has been carefully scrutinized by independent researchers (4).

Weaponization of the Food System: Genetically Engineered Maize Threatens Nepal and the Himalayan Region | Asia-Pacific News

Weaponization of the Food System: Genetically Engineered Maize Threatens Nepal and the Himalayan Region | Asia-Pacific News:

Not only Nepal but the entire Himalayan region is under threat. Genetically Engineered seeds are weapons of mass culling. The Nepalese Government’s foolishness in inviting USAID and Monsanto for ‘agricultural development’ through genetically engineered maize will destroy the quality of its livestock and humans. The contamination of its fragile ecosystem will be in perpetuity and irreversible.

Monsanto has close strategic ties with the U.S. Department of Defense [DoD, which should actually be renamed as Department of War] and the USAID is actually a division of the US-DoD.

The Rupture of the Mother Line and the Cost of Becoming Real | Womb Of Light

The Rupture of the Mother Line and the Cost of Becoming Real | Womb Of Light

Historically, our culture has been hostile to the idea of women as true individuals.

One of the hardest experiences a daughter can have in a mother/daughter relationship is seeing that your mother is unconsciously invested in your smallness. For women in this predicament, it’s truly heart-wrenching to see that, out of her own wounding, the person who gave birth to you unconsciously sees your empowerment as her own loss. Ultimately, it’s not personal but a very real tragedy of our patriarchal culture that tells women they are “less than.”

We all desire to be real, to be seen accurately, to be recognized, and to be loved for who we really are in our full authenticity. This is a human need. The truth is that the process of becoming our real selves involves being messy, big, intense, assertive and complex; the very things patriarchy portrays as unattractive in women.

How TTIP would outlaw alternatives to capitalism | Agricultural and Rural Convention

How TTIP would outlaw alternatives to capitalism | Agricultural and Rural Convention

Guest post by David Cronin

What is the real objective of the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)?

We can get a good idea from watching a video recorded
recently in Brussels. It features Cecilia Malmström, the European
commissioner for trade, defending highly controversial plans to usher in
a court system whereby corporations could sue against government
decisions they do not like.

According
to Malmström, “companies need to have some sort of protection” against
such issues as “nationalisation”. Intentional or not, that statement
illustrates how the key negotiators of TTIP are in thrall to a
right-wing ideology.

Israel "directly targeted" children in drone strikes on Gaza, says rights group | The Electronic Intifada

Israel deliberately targeted children in Gaza last summer, according to a new report by Defence for Children International-Palestine (DCI-Palestine).

Of the 2,220 Palestinians killed during Israel’s 51-day bombing
campaign, at least 1,492 were civilians, including at least 547
children.

A total of 535 of those children were killed as a direct result of
Israeli attacks. Moreover, 68 percent of children Israel killed in Gaza
were under the age of twelve, according to the report.

Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush: Corrupt Successors to the Same Old Dynasties Washington's Blog

The International Business Times reports that Jeb Bush Funneled $1.7 BILLION of pension cash to W’s donors – some who are now Jeb donors.

The former Secretary of Health and Human Services says that Jeb lobbied on behalf of an infamous Medicare swindler.

Bush is also a hardcore neocon, and member of the influential warmonger group Project for a New American Century. He’s for mass surveillance by the NSA. He supported the Iraq War, and has tapped key architects of his brother’s failed Iraq War as his advisors.

Mother Jones notes:

Financial support flowed to Jeb through Miami’s
right-wing Cuban community. Republican party politics and a series of
business scandals — including Medicaid fraud and shady S&L deals —
were inextricably intertwined. A former federal prosecutor told MJ that,
when he looked into Jeb’s lucrative business dealings with a
now-fugitive Cuban, he considered two possibilities — Jeb was either crooked or stupid.

Before being voted out of office last year, India’s Congress-led United Progressive Alliance administration sanctioned open-field trials of GM food crops in India and Monsanto’s share prices rocketed. This decision prompted Rajesh Krishnan of the Coalition for a GM Free India to state that the government was against the interest of citizens, farmers and the welfare of the nation. He went on to state that the government had decided to work hand in glove with the multinational GM seed industry that stood to gain immensely from the open field trails. Since then, the Modi-led administration has continued the policy to drive GMOs into India.

SAUDI ARABIA: FREE BLOGGER SENTENCED TO FLOGGING

Raif Badawi should be in Canada today, with his wife and their three
children. Instead he is serving his sentence in al-Islahya prison in
Jeddah city, Saudi Arabia.

Authorities arrested Raif Badawi on 17 June 2012. They charged him

Raif wrote and to his involvement in creating and managing a website

Raif Badawi’s case bounced back and forth between courts until 7 May
2014. On that day, the Criminal Court pronounced a sentence of 10 years
in prison, 1,000 lashes and a fine of one million Saudi Arabian riyals
(about US$ 266,600). After he serves a decade in prison, he is also
forbidden to travel for the following decade and from publishing and
participating in the media.

Said Mr. Morales: “One point (in the drafted declaration) was important:
health as a human right, and the U.S. government did not accept that
health should be considered a human right … President Obama did not
accept” that concept.

Restart the rescue: help stop children drowning in the Mediterranean | Save the Children UK

On Monday, 400 people – including many children – drowned when their
boat capsized in the Mediterranean. The EU has scaled back the search
and rescue missions that could have saved their lives.
We’re
ashamed, we’re outraged and we won’t rest until the EU reverses this
inhumane policy. Sign our petition to all party leaders so whoever wins
the next election hears our message loud and clear: stop children
drowning. http://save.tc/0Rl5

 Those
who argue that the so-called «Obama Doctrine» on foreign policy has
been amorphous and conflicting, at best, see the prospects of a Hillary
Clinton administration as even more damaging to U.S. foreign policy. Now
that the former Secretary of State has formally announced her candidacy
for the U.S. presidency, foreign policy experts are dissecting her
decisions while America’s chief diplomat. Not only were the most notable
failures of Obama’s foreign policy a direct result of Mrs. Clinton’s
saber-rattling and brinkmanship on the world stage, but her willingness
to engage in operations paralleling the themed revolution mania of
George Soros has many diplomats worried that a Hillary Clinton
administration, with her husband as «roving ambassador», will see more
foolhardy interventionist American adventurism.

TTIP: 900 amendments proposed as Parliament determines its position on the EU-US trade deal:

April 14, 2015 - Foreign Affairs & Trade

Marjory van den Broeke of the European Parliament’s press office joins Jennifer Baker to discuss the European Parliament’s upcoming debate on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

Negotiations on TTIP have been on-going since 2013 and the European Parliament is setting out its stance on the EU-US trade deal. Debate on the resolution will be contentious, “don’t be surprised but there are almost 900 amendments” says Van den Broeke.

Tomgram: Nick Turse, The U.S. Military's Battlefield of Tomorrow | TomDispatch

[Note for TomDispatch readers: A week from now we’re planning to launch the newest Dispatch book, Nick Turse’s Tomorrow’s Battlefield: U.S. Proxy Wars and Secret Ops in Africa.
It is, I think, a monument to what one intrepid, determined, and canny
reporter can do on his own without the backing of a major (or even
minor) mainstream media outfit. It’s also Turse’s riveting record of
how, over these last years, the U.S. military took -- and lost -- Africa
at one and the same time. You won’t find anything like it elsewhere.
Next week, with another bang-up Turse piece, we’ll officially launch the
book and offer you a chance to receive your own signed, personalized
copy in return for a donation to the site. In the meantime, if you want
to be the first on your block to get your hands on
Tomorrow’s Battlefield, then preorder it this second! You can purchase it directly from our wonderfully dedicated publisher, Haymarket Books, by clicking here. Tom]

The Numbers Are Staggering: U.S. Is 'World Leader' in Child Poverty | Alternet

The Numbers Are Staggering: U.S. Is 'World Leader' in Child Poverty | Alternet

America's wealth grew by 60 percent in the past six years, by over $30 trillion. In approximately the same time, the number of homeless children has also grown by 60 percent.

Financier and CEO Peter Schiff said, "People don’t go hungry in a capitalist economy." The 16 million kids
on food stamps know what it's like to go hungry. Perhaps, some in
Congress would say, those children should be working. "There is no such
thing as a free lunch," insisted
Georgia Representative Jack Kingston, even for schoolkids, who should
be required to "sweep the floor of the cafeteria" (as theyactually do at a charter school in Texas).
