Russia: Civil society activist arrested ahead of start of Sochi Olympics | Amnesty International

"Vitishko's name has now become synonymous with harassment of civil
society activists in the run-up to Sochi Games. Vitishko and his friends
have been trying to expose environmental violations during the
preparation of the Sochi Olympics. For this they are being punished. By
trying to lock him up as a 'petty hooligan' the authorities are trying
to gag him," said Denis Krivosheev, Europe and Central Asia Deputy
Programme Director
