WikiLeaks News:
The Afghan Government has expressed anger over the recent WikiLeaks revelation that the NSA is recording nearly all of Afghan's phone conversations. The Afghan Government stated that the surveillance activities are "an obvious violation of agreements" and "a violation of the national sovereignty of Afghanistan, and a violation of the human rights guaranteed to all Afghans". Afghan officials were instructed to halt the operations and convey a strong protest to US officials. Soon after, Afghan President Hamid Karzai rejected an invitation to meet with President Barack Obama. It is unclear whether the NSA surveillance affected this decision.
