Airstrike Near U.N. School Kills 10 as Israel Shifts Troops in Gaza - NYTimes.com

 Naomi Wolf.

Now that I read firsthand
reports on this page I can barely stand to read some MSM that I know
are not correct. This NYT report as of a few minutes ago of the strike
on the UN school...which you heard about when I WOKE UP this
morning for God's sake...is phrased for the first few grafs as if the
people who were killed at the school were killed in the "crossfire." And
again IDF claims that they were aiming at three Islamic Jihad members
"on a motorcycle" - not the school...and the NYT just prints that with
ZERO confirmation or followup. Who were the Islamic Jihad members that
the IDF was so certain of? If the IDF know their identities well enough
to target them so close to a school sheltering refugees -- witnesses
says people WERE WAITING IN LINE FOR FOOD -- they must know their names
well enough to release them to the NYT - so the NYT can research if
those folks actually ARE Islamic Jihad, or say a teacher, a baker or a
construction worker with no known political affiliation of that kind. OR
IF THEY EXIST AT ALL. Plus any EVIDENCE itself that IDF has to justify
killing them, ie how does IDF KNOW they are 'Islamic Jihad"?
Surveillance? Prior terrorist acts? A Ouija board?
Also NYT says
civilians were killed "in the fighting" at Rafah. BUT unless something
has changed since this morning THERE IS NO FIGHTING AT RAFAH. There are
desperate civilians being bombed. Am I missing something? Is there
"fighting' -- ie any armed men on the 'other' side? All we have heard
about is reports of injured, dead, dying, and all civilians in Rafah.
. [BTW since it is not a war zone, is it legal for IDF to kill anyone, even if they define them as an enemy?]

I am really unclear about who is fair gamein Israel's analysis -- if
they claim that killing any Hamas supporter is okay (per this article)
and the population elected Hamas -- how does that logic not make every
voting age adult a target for assassination? Why isn't the NYT asking
any grown-up question about who is legally a target for
assassination/killing in a place that is not as far as I understand
legally it a battlefield?
Please tweet this to the ombudsman (there is one) at the NYT. Can someone post his name and email please?

And citizen reporters, can you describe if there is 'fighting' -- or
any reports of members of Islamic Jihad -- in Rafah? Did anyone see
three men on a motorcycle AT ALL outside the UN school before the bomb
hit? If you saw them do you know who they are? In other words can we do
what the NYT SHOULD have done -- confirm the statement of the IDF
justifying this strike in a place where desperate civilians were trying
to get food for their kids?
