STOP TTIP / TAFTA Europe

A scheme to make it easier to authorise genetically-modified crops in Europe will be voted by MEPs next week.
Member states would be able to opt out but do not have legally-watertight grounds for doing so, leaving them open to legal challenges from biotech corporations. This is a mistake.
We now want EU commission president Juncker to deliver on his promise to make the EU's GMO authorisation system more democratic. We cannot continue with the situation in which a majority of EU member states and citizens reject GMOs, yet the EU continues to authorise them.
