116 Environmental Defenders Were Murdered Last Year, Mostly in Latin America | Free Speech TV



According to Global Witness, at least 116 environmentalists were
killed last year — more than two a week. Three-quarters of the deaths
occurred in Central and South America. Just recently, three indigenous
Tolupán leaders were gunned down during an anti-mining protest in
northern Honduras, which has become the most dangerous country for
environmental activists.
