 10 reasons why investing in women and girls is so vital

Did you know women and girls make up half of the world's population? Duh :)

Did you know women and girls represent the majority of the world’s poor?

Did you know 70% of the 1 billion poorest people are female?

I didn't know about the harsh reality that faces many women and girls until I started doing my research. I was devastated to learn that women and girls all over the world are held back simply because of their gender. They are disproportionately affected by discrimination, violence, and exploitation. Too many are deprived the opportunity to an education and to basic health care services.

In order to overcome these inequalities, the world must prioritize their needs and basic human rights. But the great news is that investing in girls and women also makes economic sense. In this article, I explore what the world would look like if the world educated, empowered, and kept all girls and women healthy.
