"Worse than Copenhagen": Why the Parisian climate summit agreement is hardly worth the paper on which it was printed

"On 12 December 2015, the leaders of the world at the Paris climate
summit agreed finally on a climate strategy. The announcement of this
agreement was accompanied by an orgy of self-congratulation predictable:
breathlessly called the world leaders of their agreement "historic" and
"ambitious" and "turning point for the world". The mainstream press
chewed superlatives that spilled from the mouths of the heads of state
and diplomats, obedient again. Meanwhile it rained praise on the outcome
of negotiations on the part of big business - a sure sign that
corporate interests against the urgent needs of mankind have prevailed. "
