Protect migrants in transit by United Nations - Human Rights - issuu

from Greece. We call on States to protect and respect the #humanrights
of all migrants in transit, who find themselves in perilous situations
as they move in search of a life of dignity. Their vulnerability is
worsened by significant protection gaps today, which States must
correct. They must assess the individual situation of every migrant in
transit, without discrimination, rather than expel people in an
arbitrary and collective manner. They must treat migrant children as
children first and foremost. Their best interests should come first in
all actions taken towards them. Migrants who are in an irregular
situation are not criminals. Alternatives to immigration detention
