What’s the cost of five years of war?
More than 11 million
Syrians have been displaced by violence that has plagued the country
since March 15, 2011 — five years ago today. More than 6 million people
are trapped inside the warring nation, and another 4.6 million have fled
to neighboring countries for refuge. The country’s development has
regressed almost four decades, school attendance has declined over 50
percent and most Syrians have lost their livelihoods. More than 13
million people are need of urgent support like food, water and shelter.
