Secret Documents Reveal How Israel Tried to Evade International Scrutiny of Occupation - Israel News - Haaretz.com
Today, just as they did back then, they will do everything to avoid saying it's Occupation.
The State of Israel is proud to present: 49 years of systematic silencing by policymakers.
The Research Institute, Akevot,
has exposed previously censored documents from the Foreign Ministry,
just after the 6 Day War, in which Israeli diplomats hand down
instructions to avoid using the term "Occupation" in an effort to evade
responsibility and international criticism.
This is the same
cover up that resulted in the deviation between what we were told our
entire lives and what we did in reality during our service in the
Territories.
It's this cover up and deviations that led us to break the silence about our actions in the Territories.
For 49 years the State of Israel has been churning these diplomatic
excuses into an ideology in the name of which we are sent to the
Territories to fight.
The documents prove - the Occupation cannot be concealed and it has a price. We would know. #wevebeenthere
