My Turn: Dark money in elections fundamentally undermines citizens’ relationships with their government

My Turn: Dark money in elections fundamentally undermines citizens’ relationships with their government

This
election is making clear to people across the country just how much big
money undermines our democracy all the way down the ballot.

[We
see first-hand the magnitude of dark money today, with the Hassan-Ayotte
senatorial race already the most expensive statewide race on record.
While gridlock in Congress is one very worrisome matter, the greater
one, in my view, is the destruction of the guiding principle of “We the
People.”]
