One
year ago today, US airstrikes on the Kunduz Trauma Centre in
Afghanistan killed 42 people, including 24 patients and 14 MSF staff.

A commemoration event will take place in Geneva shortly to remember the
victims and condemn on-going attacks on medical facilities in conflict
zones.

We’ll be Live on Facebook at 7pm CET to share a speech by
Dr Kathleen Thomas, a survivor of the Kunduz attack. Follow us on
Twitter (@MSF) and Snapchat (msf.int) for more live updates from the
event.

The 3rd of October 2015 will be remembered as one of the darkest days
in MSF’s history. In the early hours of that Saturday, 42 people,
including 14 MSF staff, were killed in a US airstrike on our Kunduz
trauma centre in Afghanistan.

Kass Thomas, an intensive care
doctor from Australia and a member of the Kunduz team, was in the
hospital compound on the night of the attack. Kass was on her first
mission with MSF.

Listen to an account by Kass, told in a special episode of Everyday Emergency, of what happened on the night of the attack.

WARNING: Please be aware that Kass’ testimony is, in places, very distressing.
