Spain’s Alsasua terrorism case raises fears over judiciary

“The Alsasua and Catalonia cases are raising a lot of questions about
the Spanish justice system,” says Lydia Vicente, a human rights lawyer
with Rights International Spain. The group last year co-signed a letter
to the UN’s special rapporteur on the independence of judges and
lawyers, warning about “political interference” in Spain and political
pressure on judges that had “become common”.
