Juan Guaidó: Venezuela has chance to leave chaos behind | World news | The Guardian

Extraordinary
even by the Guardian's standards! Juan Guaido, the CIA's pick to lead a
coup against Venezuela's govt, gives the paper one of his first
interviews – and it simply acts as a conduit for his propaganda. It doesn't even pretend to be a watchdog.

Reading this, one can understand why Guaido chose the Guardian for the
interview. It has an entirely undeserved credibility among many on the
left, especially in the US, but is usually only too willing to act as a
stenographer to the Washington power elite.

Here you can see
clearly how the formula works. The Guardian uncritically regurgitates
Guaido's CIA talking points, but then panders to its left constituency
by questioning the coup leader's ties to Trump and Brazil's Bolsonaro.
The legitimacy of the coup itself goes unexamined.

People protest against Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro in Madrid, Spain.
