Breaking The Set on Bringing Back Firing Squads, Climate Change Dark Money and the NSA's Offline Spying
On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin remarks on a New York Times report revealing that the NSA can hack into offline computers using radio frequency technology. Abby then highlights four attorneys who are working to posthumously exonerate the 1944 death sentence of 14 year old George Stinney who was convicted in the murder of two white girls in South Carolina, and calls out Wyoming State Senator, Bruce Burns, who has introduced legislation that would bring back firing squads to execute prisoners. Abby then speaks with Matt Wood of Free Press, about a recent court ruling that will abolish FCC regulations over internet giants like Verizon and Comcast, effectively bringing about an end to net neutrality. Abby then calls out the corporate media for their incessant coverage of Beibergate, whilst ignoring important stories such as Congress' attempt to implement new Iran sanctions amidst promising diplomatic negotiations, as well as new photographs emerging of a 2004 incident involving US marines setting fire to Iraqi corpses in Fallujah. BTS wraps up the show with an interview with Clive Hamilton, Public Ethics Professor at Charles Stuart University, and author of the book 'Earth Masters' about climate change denial, and the ethics of geo-engineering.
