Morocco: Amendment of rape provision is a step in the right direction | Amnesty International
Yesterday we shed light on the story of Amina Filali, a 16 year old girl
from Morocco who was forced to marry the man she said raped her. Sadly
she saw suicide as the her only possible escape.
However, we now
have some positive news to communicate. The Moroccan parliament has
voted unanimously to change its rape law so that rapists can no longer
escape punishment by forcing their victims to marry them.
We should spare a thought for Amina. This amendment came too late for her. http://bit.ly/1hmhKg
