Pentagon Papers leaker: Snowden is a hero of mine – The Lead with Jake Tapper - CNN.com Blogs
(CNN) - Former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden, who took a treasure trove of the agency's secrets and leaked them to the world, is not a journalist. But he is a journalists' dream source, which is why Tuesday the Freedom of the Press Foundation announced that Snowden is joining its board of directors.
"We admire him, I admire him, personally, very much. He's a hero of mine," said Daniel Ellsberg, co-founder of the foundation. Ellsberg is the former U.S. military analyst who gave the infamous Pentagon Papers to The New York Times in 1971.
"We're very proud, actually, to have him join us on the board," said Ellsburg.
