Scientists: Nanoparticles Kill Cancer Cells in Blood Stream

Scientists: Nanoparticles Kill Cancer Cells in Blood Stream:

Researchers at Cornell University (CU) have created a new method of destroying cancer cells in the bloodstream in an attempt to prevent them from infecting the rest of the human body.

Using a cancer-killing protein called Tumor Necrosis Factor Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand (TRAIL), are a group of sticky proteins that attach to nanoparticles and can be injected directly into the bloodstream.

When these enhanced proteins come into contact with tumor cells, they kill them.

Initial testing has proven this method is 90% effective.
