The
European Ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly, has launched a public consultation
in relation to the transparency of the Transatlantic Trade and
Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations. This is what the Ombudsman,
out of her own initiative, is trying to achieve in launching a public
consultation: "We do not formulate any concrete opinion about the nature
of negotiations, or of the TTIP itself, all we demand
is public access to the documents. We do not want access to the
documents for ourselves, and we would not release such documents. We
want public access and transparency, and that’s why we opened a public
consultation."

Interested individuals or organisations are
invited to submit to the Ombudsman their contribution to the
consultation in relation to the TTIP until 31 October 2014.
