Media Lens - Russell Brand's 'Revolution' - Part 2, The Backlash

 

Part
2 of the latest Media Lens alert, this time assessing the media chorus
smearing Russell Brand for his new book "Revolution". The goal, as with
Julian Assange, is to create an atmosphere of ridicule so pervasive that
we, ordinary punters, will lack the courage to buck the trend. But if
book sales are any measure, the media may be losing the battle, at least
in part.

Media Lens: "We are all, to some extent, herd
animals. When we witness an individual being subjected to relentless
mockery of this kind from just about everyone across the media
'spectrum', it becomes a real challenge to continue taking that person
seriously, let alone to continue supporting them. We know that doing so
risks attracting the same abuse."
