PhRMA companies push hard on House bill to ease testing of new drugs
There is bipartisan support for a bill that would streamline the FDA
drug approval process, possibly through reducing the importance placed
on controlled trials, especially those using randomization. While some
health advocates are concerned, sponsors of the bill, a majority of whom
have received considerable donations from prominent pharmaceutical
companies, feel that "modernizing health care innovation and maintaining
the highest standards of safety and efficacy are not mutually
exclusive."
