bonheur. »

Declaration of Independence of the United States, approved July 4, 1776:
"We regard as self-evident truths in themselves, that all men are
created equal, that they received from their Creator with certain
inalienable rights; that among these rights are life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness; it is to ensure these rights that governments were
instituted among men, and they derive their just power from the consent
of the governed; that whenever any Form of Government becomes
destructive of these ends, the people are right to alter or abolish it,
and to institute new government, laying its foundations on principles,
and organizing its powers in the manner that he deems most appropriate
for its security and happiness. "

politique ; d’autre part, l’opinion publique fluctue considérablement,

fonctionnement.

According to Antonio Gramsci, in the great crises of capitalism,
institutions that rely on universal suffrage, as Parliaments, are
secondary. Conversely, the circumstances consolidate "the relative
position of the power of the bureaucracy (civil and military), of high
finance, of the Church, and in general all relatively independent bodies
fluctuations of public opinion" . Normally, all these bodies do not
mind letting the democratic institutions in charge. This is not the case
in crisis: first, the contradictions inherent in the legitimate
institutions electorally deepened, weakening their ability to make
decisions that require the accelerated pace of policy; on the other
hand, public opinion fluctuates considerably, threatening to turn to the
more radical solutions.
The Italian intellectual calls "Caesarism"
this propensity of democracies to authoritarian tendencies manifest in
times of crisis. (...) The current dynamics at work within the European
Union evoke a form of Caesarism not military but financial and
bureaucratic. Political entity in the fragmented sovereignty, Europe
sees its unity guaranteed by the Brussels bureaucracy and structural
interference of international finance in its operation.

Jonathan Smith fought in the Battle of Long Island on August 29, 1778. His unit was the first brigade that went out on Long Island, and was discharged in December after a violent snow storm. After the war he became a Baptist minister. He was married three times and had eleven children. The first two wives died and for some reason he left his third wife in Rhode Island to live with two of the children in Massachusetts. On October 20, 1854, he had a daguerreotype taken to give to a granddaughter. He died on January 3, 1855.

Bugging Brazil

Press Release

WikiLeaks publishes today, 4 July at 08:00 BRT, a top secret US National Security Agency target list of 29 key Brazilian government phone numbers that were selected for intensive interception. The publication proves that not only President Dilma Rousseff was targeted but also her assistant, her secretary, her chief of staff, her Palace office and even the phone in her Presidential jet. The US targeted not only those closest to the President, but waged an economic espionage campaign against Brazil, spying on those responsible for managing Brazil's economy, including the head of its Central Bank. The US also extensively targeted Brazil's diplomacy, targeting the phones of its Foreign Minister and its ambassadors to Germany, France, the EU, the US and Geneva.

The economic targets within Brazil's government include its key Finance Ministers and even the Governor of the Brazilian Central Bank. Cabinet Minister Nelson Henrique Barbosa Filho, who served as Executive Secretary at Brazil's Ministry of Finance from 2011 to 2013 and who is now Minister of Planning, Budget and Management is on the target list, as is Antonio Palocci, Minister of Finance under former President Lula and former Dilma's Chief of Staff.

The revelation of US economic espionage against Brazil follows WikiLeaks publications earlier this week revealing US economic espionage against France, Germany and the EU.

The cell phone of Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, former Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2013 to 2015 and current Brazilian Ambassador to the US, appointed by President Rousseff, was targeted, as was the phone for Adriana Queirzo de Carvalho, Attorney General for the Finance Ministry.

NSA’s Top Brazilian Political and Financial Targets Revealed by New WikiLeaks Disclosure

Top secret data from the National Security Agency, shared with The Intercept by WikiLeaks, reveals that the U.S. spy agency targeted the cellphones and other communications devices of more than a dozen top Brazilian political and financial officials, including the country’s president Dilma Rousseff, whose presidential plane’s telephone was on the list. President Rousseff just yesterday returned to Brazil after a trip to the U.S. that included a meeting with President Obama, a visit she had delayed for almost two years in anger over prior revelations of NSA spying on Brazil.

10 Reasons Why You Have No Reason to Celebrate “Freedom” this Fourth of July | The Free Thought Project

As Americans don their red white and blue sequence bar-b-que aprons
and raise their flags, ironically made in China, in an effort to
“celebrate their freedom,” we should be asking ourselves, what freedoms
do American’s really have?

We are under constant surveillance, our every move under a microscope by government goons, “protecting us” from “terrorists.”

We are under the constant threat of violence from the state
for possessing a plant, or having a tail light out, or simply walking
down the street.

Americans are constantly paranoid of those blue and red lights
popping up in the rearview mirror that most always end in extortion and
could very well end with a visit to the hospital, being locked in a
cage, or worse.

In the Land of the Free, police killed more people in just one month of this year than the United Kingdom has in the entire 20th century.

In the Land of the Free, police kill at more than 70 times the rate of other first world nations.

In the Land of the Free, we are told to “fear the terrorists” but US police kill 58 times more people than all terrorist activity against US civlians since 9-11!

Iceland, the land of freedom and true democracy, grows booming economy after jailing bankster criminals

(NaturalNews) Banks around the world are no longer the quaint little savings-and-loan depositories of yesterday. Today, most of them are owned or co-opted by giant mega-wealthy criminal conglomerates that charge customers for everything from cash deposits to ATM fees.

One Western country finally figured out that allowing these criminal enterprises to continue operating business as usual was hurting growth and destroying its economy, so its government decided to make some serious reforms.

Instead of bailing out the big criminal banking enterprises, Iceland instead chose to try, convict and jail criminal banksters. And as a result, the country has the fastest recovering economy in all of fiscally moribund Europe.

Robert Fisk: Israeli disinformation sullies a rare moment of wartime compassion

For years, the Israelis have used this wartime operation to justify their mass killing of civilians

When will the Israeli government stop misusing the RAF’s wartime raid
on the Gestapo’s Danish headquarters to justify their killing of
children? Their shameful and dishonest version of the 1945 air attack in
Copenhagen is repeated constantly by Israeli spokesmen whenever the
world responds in horror to the
country’s pulverisation of Arab civilians. It popped up again last week
when the Israeli spokesman, Mark Regev, tried to avoid Channel 4’s
questions about the UN’s latest report on the 2014 Gaza bloodbath and
the killing of four children on a beach a year ago.

The four had been playing next to a fisherman’s hut – witnessed by many
foreign journalists at the time. A tragic mistake, announced Regev. The
Israelis had not intended to kill the children. And he launched into an
old canard. The RAF had attacked Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen, he
said, “and the bombs went astray and hit an orphanage and that was a
tragedy, a real tragedy”. It wasn’t an orphanage, but no matter. The
Israelis went on promiscuously shooting into built-up areas of Gaza,
eventually killing around 2,200 Palestinians – 1,492 of whom were
civilians.

The human rights crisis: a problem of perception? | openDemocracy

The human rights crisis: a problem of perception? | openDemocracy

When Israel is criticized about its rights-abusive policies
in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the refrain most often heard among
local politicians is that the government’s hasbara—the
Israeli propaganda machine—is inadequate. The problem, in other words,
is not what Israel actually does to the Palestinians, but rather the
inability to get its positive message across to the international
community. This is usually referred to as “rebranding Israel”. The underlying assumption here is that the merchandise is fine, and only the packaging needs to be replaced.
Rachel Krys’ recent argument
is based on a similar logic, even though she is writing about a
different issue. She tells us that most people in the UK do not support
human rights, while arguing that this is happening because human rights
are presented in a way that is disconnected from people’s everyday
lives. She claims that if the public would hear less “negative
discourse” about human rights and more “stories about old people
challenging bad treatment, invasive decisions or the intrusion into
their private and family life”, support for human rights would be much
wider. Once again the problem with human rights has to do with
perceptions, and the solution, here as well, is hasbara.
The
relationship between representation and reality is, however, much more
complex. It has to do with human rights themselves: the way they have
been institutionalized, the political projects to which they lend
themselves, their intricate connections to the state, and the
alternative discourses of justice they omit and repress.

100,000 beekeepers urge Germany to ban GMOs as biotech industry destroys their livelihood and environment

(NaturalNews) Nearly 100,000 German beekeepers are calling for a nationwide ban on the cultivation of GMO crops. The beekeepers are represented by the German Beekeepers Association (DIB), which is pursuing the ban after the introduction of legislation allowing member states to opt out of GM planting schemes that have been approved at the EU level.

The new law allows a member state to ban GMO agriculture in all or part of its territory. The legislation is strongly opposed by GM proponents and has become a controversial issue throughout the EU.

The DIB is urging Agriculture Minister Christian Schmidt (CSU) to enact a ban throughout the entire country, but the minister is calling for each state or region within Germany to decide on an individual basis.

(NaturalNews) As Greece slides ever deeper into its debt crisis with no real hope of a solution on the horizon, many average citizens have been reduced to scavenging in dumpsters just to stay alive.

A recent article in The Telegraph details the plight of formerly employed Greek nationals who now must resort to scouring the streets to find scraps of cardboard, plastic bottles, metal or anything else that can be sold at recycling centers for a few meager euros per day.

Some of these unfortunate people are even forced to eat discarded food found in the trash bins of cities such as Athens, the article reports.

Half a million Greeks unable to vote in referendum

EXCLUSIVE / At least half a million Greeks are unable to vote in a referendum widely perceived as a choice on whether or not to remain in the eurozone, unless they return to Greece before Sunday’s poll.

There is no provision under Greek law to allow for voting abroad. Instead, Greeks must travel home to where they hold their voting rights to make their voices heard.

Since the 2007-8 financial crisis, 505,666 Greeks have left Greece, which has suffered two bailouts and years of harsh austerity and high unemployment, according to Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office.

But the true figure of disenfranchised Greeks is likely to be even higher, because Eurostat does not have figures for 2007, 2009, 2014 or 2015.

Sunday’s referendum is officially on whether or not to accept new bailout terms offered by Greece’s creditors. But it is seen in practice as a vote on whether or not to remain in Eurozone.

Today, Friends of the Earth Sweden announced the winner of the Swedish Greenwash Award. Of five nominees, the European Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström was voted

winner for her statements about the environment and the Transatlantic Trade and

Investment Partnership (TTIP).

The Swedish Greenwash Award goes out to organizations and politicians for false green

communication. The reason can be everything from lies about environmental work to

communicating small green investments to draw attention away from larger shortcomings.

Neither Greater Asia nor Greater Europe: America’s «Chaos» versus a Silk World Order

Tectonic geopolitical shifts are taking place in Eurasia. The Venetian merchant Marco Polo and the Moroccan scholar Ibn Battuta, both great travelers of their days, would be thoroughly impressed with the trade networks that are developing. The Eurasia of today is developing into a vast network of superhighways, railroad connections, mammoth ports, and sophisticated airports.

Interconnectedness is the name of the game and Beijing has been leading the way forward. Despite China’s massive project to bring the economies of Eurasia together, the Chinese still faces resentment by those that want to tarnish the image and leadership role of the People’s Republic. Here is just the latest example: although it is annually reported around Ramadan that there are restrictions on China’s Muslims, this year there has been a large international media barrage of reports claiming that China has banned fasting in the Muslim-majority Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. This type of media campaign evokes memories about the 3.14 protests that were orchestrated in the Tibet Autonomous Region and internationally to disrupt the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

The citizens of Greece face a referendum Sunday that could decide the
survival of their elected government and the fate of the country in the
Eurozone and Europe. Narrowly, they’re voting on whether to accept or
reject the terms dictated by their creditors last week. But what’s
really at stake? The answers aren’t what you’d think.

I have had a close view of the process, both from the US and Athens,
after working for the past four years with Yanis Varoufakis, now the
Greek finance minister. I’ve come to realize that there are many myths
in circulation about this crisis; here are nine that Americans should
see through.

The CIA’s Creation of “Islamic Terrorism” on American Soil

Islamic paramilitary camps have been set up in the United States and Canada to train African American Muslims in guerilla warfare. After months of training on firing ranges and obstacle courses, the black Muslims are sent to Pakistan where they receive advanced training in explosives. Many never return.

Stories about these camps are not new. They have been reported by the main stream media, including Fox News.

The origin of these compounds for would-be jihadis dates back to 1979, when the Agency sent hundreds of radical Islamic clerics to the United States in an effort to recruit African American Muslims for the holy war against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

What Stinks about Varoufakis and the Whole Greek Mess? | New Eastern Outlook

What Stinks about Varoufakis and the Whole Greek Mess?

Something stinks very bad about Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis and the entire Greek mess that has been playing out since the election victory of the nominally pro-Greek Syriza Party in January. I am coming to the reluctant conclusion that far from being the champion of the hapless Greek people, Varoufakis is part of a far larger and very dirty game.

The brilliant psychologist Eric Berne, author of the seminal book Games People Play, would likely call the game of Varoufakis and the Troika, “Rapo,” as in the rape of the Greek people and, ultimately of all the EU, Germany included. How do I come to this surprising conclusion?

When the left-right coalition was elected by a Greek population desperate for change from the several years of austerity, pension cuts, health and education cuts demanded by the IMF in order to insure that Greek creditors be repaid their pound of flesh in terms of state debt, I was among many who held out hope that finally a government that stood for the interests of her people was in office in Athens.

What we have witnessed since is what can only be called a clown show, one in which the laugh is on the Greek people and EU citizens as a whole. The ones laughing, as often is so, are the mega banks and Troika–ECB, IMF and EU. Behind the Troika, almost invisible, are the Greek oligarchs who have robbed the state coffers of hundreds of billions over the years, tucking it away in numbered Swiss and Lichtenstein secret bank accounts, avoiding paying a single penny tax to support their nation. And it is looking more and more as though the “leftist” economist, Varoufakis’s role is that of a Trojan Horse for the destruction of the entire Eurozone by the bankers and those Greek oligarchs. Next after Greece Italy looks poised to become victim, and that will put the entire Euro in a crisis that is today unimaginable.

 How Zionism Corrupts Judaism

Judaism is a religion based on humanistic principles offering powerful arguments for social justice, but it has been hijacked by Zionists who have twisted it into an excuse for ethnic cleansing and mass murder, as Professor of Moral Theology Daniel C. Maguire describes.

By Daniel C. Maguire

Like the Palestinian people, Judaism is also suffering from siege and occupation. Zionism, a Nineteenth Century hallucinatory piece of fictive theology and a vicious ideology, has gotten a demonic grip on much of modern Jewish consciousness and has taken possession of U.S. policies in the Middle East.

Zionism is not Judaism; Judaism is 3,000 years old. Zionism is a heretical upstart based upon preposterous assumptions. In terms of theistic Judaism, Zionism teaches that God, the creator of everything in the universe from fruit flies to quasars, is also into real-estate distribution and has assigned Palestine to Jews or those who tenuously claim to be Jews … from dark-skinned Ethiopians to blue-eyed Russians.

In this video we break down in
simple terms the only way "those in power" can stay in power. It's not
as complex at it may seem. They need us more than we need them

Department of Justice: Militarized Police Tactics Caused Ferguson Riots | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization

According to a Department of Justice document obtained by the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch, the police effort to handle protests with inappropriate,
militaristic tactics not only violated constitutional rights, it
effectively antagonized and incited the crowd—creating the very
situation police ostensibly sought to prevent.

‘UK spied on Merkel’s Greek bailout plans and told NSA’ – WikiLeaks

British intelligence agencies spied on German Chancellor Angela
Merkel and other leaders as they discussed Greek bailout plans for
European banks in 2011, WikiLeaks revelations suggest.

Phone calls from top
German ministers, public officials and even Merkel’s personal
assistant were intercepted by the UK and shared with the US
National Security Agency (NSA).

WikiLeaks claims the leaked cables reveal Merkel’s personal
skepticism about solutions to Greece’s financial crisis and
Berlin’s support for a special IMF bailout for banks funded by
the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South
Africa).

The cables, published Wednesday, also purport to show Germany’s
support for a Financial Transaction Tax (FTT) to be levied on
banks, a move opposed by the UK and US.

UK surveillance Tribunal reveals the government spied on Amnesty International

In a shocking revelation, the UK’s Investigatory Powers Tribunal
(IPT) today notified Amnesty International that UK government agencies
had spied on the organization by intercepting, accessing and storing its
communications.

In an email sent today,
the Tribunal informed Amnesty International its 22 June ruling had
mistakenly identified one of two NGOs which it found had been subjected
to unlawful surveillance by the UK government. Today’s communication
makes clear that it was actually Amnesty International Ltd, and not the
Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR) that was spied on in
addition to the Legal Resources Centre in South Africa.

The NGOs were among 10 organizations that launched a legal challenge
against suspected unlawful mass surveillance of their work by the UK’s
spy agencies.

XKEYSCORE: NSA’s Google for the World’s Private Communications

One of the National Security Agency’s most powerful tools of mass
surveillance makes tracking someone’s Internet usage as easy as entering
an email address, and provides no built-in technology to prevent
abuse. Today, The Intercept is publishing 48 top-secret and
other classified documents about XKEYSCORE dated up to 2013, which shed
new light on the breadth, depth and functionality of this critical spy
system — one of the largest releases yet of documents provided by NSA
whistleblower Edward Snowden.

The NSA’s XKEYSCORE program, first revealed by The Guardian,
sweeps up countless people’s Internet searches, emails, documents,
usernames and passwords, and other private communications. XKEYSCORE is
fed a constant flow of Internet traffic from fiber optic cables
that make up the backbone of the world’s communication network, among
other sources, for processing. As of 2008, the surveillance system
boasted approximately 150 field sites in the United States, Mexico,
Brazil, United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, Nigeria, Somalia, Pakistan,
Japan, Australia, as well as many other countries, consisting of over
700 servers.

These servers store “full-take data” at the collection sites — meaning
that they captured all of the traffic collected — and, as of 2009,
stored content for 3 to 5 days and metadata for 30 to 45 days. NSA
documents indicate that tens of billions of records are stored in its
database. “It is a fully distributed processing and query system that
runs on machines around the world,” an NSA briefing on XKEYSCORE says.
“At field sites, XKEYSCORE can run on multiple computers that gives it
the ability to scale in both processing power and storage.”

Press Release

Today, Wednesday July 2, 2015 at 1500 CEST,
WikiLeaks continues publishing documents from the secret ongoing TiSA
(Trade in Services Agremeent) negotiations, with four Chapters in key
areas ahead of the next negotiating round on Monday: Electronic Commerce, Telecommunications Services, Financial Services and Maritime Transport Services.
All four texts include the confidential negotiating positions for each
of the TiSA participating countries. Today WikiLeaks is also publishing
detailed analyses on each of these Chapters, totalling 26 pages,
explaining how they have changed since previous rounds, also published
by WikiLeaks.

The Annexes show a concerted attempt to place
restrictions on the ability of participating governments to regulate
services sectors, even where regulations are necessary to protect the
privacy of domestic populations, the natural environment or the
integrity of public services. Today's TiSA documents follow WikiLeaks
publication yesterday of five TiSA negotiating texts including the Core
Text, and brings WikiLeaks' overall total of published secret TiSA texts to 28
