German banks invest billions in nuclear weapons manufacturers

The German financial industry is largely business with manufacturers of nuclear weapons. This is the result of a study of nuclear opponents.

 

German financial institutions operate multibillion dollar business with nuclear weapons manufacturers. This emerges from a study of the Dutch Association of IKV Pax Christi and the anti-nuclear campaign ICAN out. Overall, between 2010 and 2012 amounted to € 7.6 billion German investment. Were studied business with companies that develop, produce or maintain nuclear warheads and delivery systems.

The German bank is responsible for almost half of this amount. They invested according to the study, among other things about stocks, bonds and loans more than 3.5 billion euros in manufacturer of nuclear weapons systems. In second place followed by Commerzbank with 1.7 billion euros. It maintains relationships with nine of those companies. The alliance was in 2012 still on top of the list, now they followed in third place with more than one billion euro investment.
