More than million people participated in 'March for Dignity' anti-austerity protest in Madrid, Spain. The march was organized to tackle the austerity measures Spain is enacting at the behest of European financial institutions. Protesters blame the austerity measures for the high rate of unemployment, which currently stands at 55 percent for under-25s and the current housing crisis.
Spanish riot police surrounded protesters and fired rubber bullets and charged to disperse them, who hurled bottles and other objects. According to emergency services, 101 people were injured - 67 of them police. Police vehicles and windows of several banks were damaged.
