Before 2013, a yearly average of 35,000 children were captured on the
US-Mexican border. But the trend aggravated in 2014, when the amount of
children crossing almost doubled. In 2014, more than 68,000 children
were apprehended on the border. Although alleviation measures have been
taken, it seems that the number of children crossing in 2015 will
approximately be the same. The majority of these children are around 15
years of age. But since 2014, there was a greater number of crossers who
were a lot younger.
Since 2013 up until today, an overwhelming amount of 131,000 children have been detained.
