Bodrum to Kos latest drownings include children
Among
the latest tragic deaths of people trying to reach Europe are some one
dozen Syrians who drowned after they set out in two boats from Bodrum, a
resort in southeastern Turkey. Others are still missing.
Migrants attempt the short crossing from Bodrum to the Greek island of
Kos in small dingies. A senior naval official said almost 100 people had
been rescued in this area by Turkish vessels overnight.
The confirmed dead included five children and one woman.
Many of the migrants do not have life vests.
