(NaturalNews) A new scheme by the federal agency tasked with caring for
military veterans threatens to use servicemen's genes as a weapon
against their constitutional rights. The so-called "Million Veterans
Program," a voluntary research program by the Veterans Administration
(VA) branded as "improving health care for veterans" is actually a
data-mining operation intended to tag veterans as "mentally ill" in
order to deprive them of their right to purchase and own firearms as
guaranteed under the Second Amendment, warns a prominent lawyer.

Attorney
Michael Connelly, executive director of the United States Justice
Foundation and an Army veteran himself, wrote recently that the program
is a ploy to put veterans' names on the National Instant Criminal
Background Check System (NICS) watch list. In the event that a veteran
is deemed to have "mental defects," he or she would be prohibited from
purchasing firearms, Connelly says.

"As a veteran and
constitutional lawyer I find this very troubling," he writes. "I
encourage all of my fellow veterans to carefully read this questionnaire
and consider whether you can reap any benefits from participating in
this program."
