Abed lived his short life in the shadow
of Israel’s 8-metre separation wall that winds its way around two sides
of Aida camp, annexing the community’s land and cutting Bethlehem off
from Jerusalem. The checkpoints, night raids, arrests, Israeli
settlements, the distant dream of seeing the sea and visiting Jerusalem
were part of growing up under occupation.
