State Dept: Israeli Settlements, Lack Of Hope Drive Palestinian Violence
Continued drivers of violence, resistance, and retaliation include a
lack of hope in achieving Palestinian statehood, Israeli settlement
construction in the West Bank, and settler violence against Palestinians
in the West Bank.
Israeli police place a Palestinian boy in a chokehold in Jerusalem’s Old
City, July 17, 2017. Muslims boycotted the Jerusalem holy site in a
gesture of protest after Israel denied them access to Islam’s second
holiest site, setting up heavy police and military blockades.
