Dozens of injuries and arrests: Protest against austerity escalating in Madrid

 The "March of Dignity" ended in bloodshed. Tens
of thousands of Spaniards demonstrated in Madrid against the effects of
the economic crisis and the austerity policies of the government.
In severe riots around 70 people were injured.

 Madrid
- A protest march of tens of thousands Spaniards against the austerity
their government in Madrid turned up on Saturday night in violence.
When riots with mostly young demonstrators around 70 people were injured, many of them police officers. As the authorities said, 17 protesters were arrested.



People from across the country came to vent their anger over social
cuts, mass unemployment and poverty as the "March of Dignity" in the
capital Madrid.
Eight marches streamed from different directions to the train station Atocha, where they joined forces. Many of the demonstrators were traveling partly on foot for weeks.

The protests were peaceful long. Towards the end of the protest, there was then but clashes between protesters and security forces. Young people hurling missiles to de police, who responded with rubber bullets.
