Many aspects of the Ukraine unrest seem theatrical or staged/whipped up
to me. Do recall that this is not historically unprecedented — that is,
for non-local participants to add to existing tensions in a way that
advances outside agendas. Mark Miller just posted documentation for instance of US efforts to undermine Venezuela
as I have written for years, but especially since the violent
infiltration of Occupy in 2011, I look at “masked protesters” or anyone
in a black balaclava with a GREAT deal of skepticism. It is too easy and
too well documented for Academi/Blackwater type mercenaries — or one of
their many competitors — to be shipped in and made unidentifiable by
“covering their faces.” The staginess of many of the images coming out
of Ukraine seems off to me — real or rather unaided revolutions (see
France, 1968) don;t look like that, so much like a stage or movie set —
they are far messier and less visually dramatic. The visuals that seem
odd or off to me — the complete scorching black of the city square
compared with much patchier effects form isolated fires in other
conflicts; the way the fires burn very brightly and steadily in the
streets as opposed to again the messy, patchy way isolated fires burn
otherwise without some intense inflammatory agent I am not aware of and
that doesn’t tend to be visible in most other local (grassroots) protest
images I have seen — – and the many many fit, big, strong, buff guys in
facemasks or balaclavas that don’t seem to match phenotypically the
young men in the rest of the population — (who may not spend their days
lifting weights) —
