IG Metall - Freihandel zwischen der EU und Kanada

IG Metall - Freihandel zwischen der EU und Kanada

 IG Metall
(Germany's "Industrial Union of Metalworkers'") represents workers in
the motor vehicle industry and is considered a major trend-setter in
national bargaining. It represents both blue- and white-collar workers.
In a blog published yesterday it calls for action against ‪#‎CETA‬,
the EU-Canada free trade agreement. According to IGMetall CETA must be
stopped as it contains an ISDS clause; it does not contain clear and
enforceable rules to protect and improve workers' rights; it jeopardizes
sensible regulations and unlike other EU trade agreements CETA does not
contain a human rights clause. In case of human rights violation such a
clause would make it possible to suspend the trade agreement. According
to IGMetall CETA represents a threat to democracy, the environment and
workers' rights. IG Metall rejects the agreement in its present form.
