New Research Suggests Sugar Causes Cancer
It’s something that has been murmured about – especially in alternative health circles – for several years: The connection between sugar and cancer.
The roots of this idea come from the work of Dr. Otto Warburg, who won the Nobel Prize in 1931 for his work demonstrating that cancer cells in the human body derive nourishment through the fermentation of glucose. He wrote “Oxygen gas, the donor of energy in plants and animals, is dethroned in the cancer cells and replaced by an energy-yielding reaction of the lowest living forms; namely a fermentation of glucose.” [1]
